CRANSTON, RI – Authorities have charged a man with DUI after he crashed his car into a building in northwest Cranston early this morning.
Police say that Libasse Gadiaga, 24, was attempting to turn left from Dyer Avenue onto Farmington Avenue. He took too wide an angle, lost control, and hit the Equis Restaurant & Lounge building at 355 Dyer.
Cranston police took the Providence resident into custody after he refused to submit to a breath test. Prosecutors have since charged him with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was arraigned at the Warwick District Court.
Police say the building sustained considerable damage. However, a building inspector cleared it as sound.
It does not appear as though anyone was injured in the crash.
