Woonsocket PD releases identity of man killed in pedestrian crash

WOONSOCKET, RI – Woonsocket police confirmed that the 75-year-old man who was killed in a pedestrian crash last Thursday, July 30, has since been identified.

This comes as an update in connection with our previous reporting. Police told WJARNews10 that it was Luis A. Posado Gonzalez who died from his injuries. Gonzalez was walking on Mendon Road when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police have since confirmed that it was raining last week, which could have impacted the driver’s ability to see the road clearly and therefore led to the crash.

No citations or charges have been reported at this time.
