1 driver hospitalized after rear-end crash with West Bridgewater fire truck

WEST BRIDGEWATER, MA – One driver was hospitalized following a rear-end crash involving a fire engine truck on Tuesday, WCVB said.

The incident unfolded around 2:30 a.m. on the southbound Route 24 near Route 106 and Route 104. Officials said a Massachusetts State Trooper struck a deer with their cruiser.

Moments later, West Bridgewater’s Fire Truck Engine No. 2 pulled up to the scene. The firefighters exited the fire truck and were responding to the scene. As they rendered aid to the trooper, that’s when another driver, who was speeding, rear-ended the fire truck.

The firefighters were uninjured, although the aforementioned driver did have to go to Boston Medical Center South for treatment of unspecified injuries.

A tow truck also pulled up to the scene and towed away the driver’s vehicle, along with the fire truck.

Authorities shut down one lane of Route 24 for a few hours before reopening.

A full investigation is underway.
