One dead, one injured in Plymouth head-on crash

PLYMOUTH, MA – One driver died, and another was injured on Friday morning in a head-on collision in Plymouth, reports WCVB.

The crash reportedly occurred around 9:45 a.m. near Route 3A and Plimoth Patuxet Highway. Authorities say two vehicles collided just minutes after police had been in pursuit of one of the drivers.

According to officials, Plymouth officers first responded to a reported domestic incident shortly before the wreck. When police arrived, they learned that the man allegedly involved in the incident had already driven away in a blue Volvo.

Officers later found the Volvo on Route 3 and began following it. Police say they ended the pursuit after a few minutes when they noticed the driver was moving unpredictably.

Soon afterward, authorities received a new emergency call about a serious collision. Investigators found that the Volvo had crashed head-on into a Porsche near Warren Avenue.

Medics transported the Volvo driver to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released the deceased driver’s name.

The Porsche driver was also taken to a hospital. Officials described that person’s injuries as not life-threatening.
