COVENTRY, RI – An occupant suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday afternoon on Arnold Road in Coventry, reports WPRI.
Coventry police say the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Arnold Road and New London Turnpike.
Investigators report that a blue or gray Kia Sportage with out-of-state plates hit another vehicle and then fled the scene. The Kia’s airbags deployed, and the vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage after the crash. Despite that damage, the driver left the area before officers could make contact.
Emergency crews took one occupant from the struck vehicle to a hospital for treatment. Captain Ryan DeSisto told reporters that the injuries did not appear serious.
Police later spotted the Kia on Gay Street near Centre of New England Boulevard. Officials believe the driver may have been heading toward I-95.
Local police are now asking anyone with information about the crash or the driver to contact the Coventry Police Department.
