CHELMSFORD, MA – A female pedestrian sustained serious injuries Wednesday afternoon when a vehicle struck her along a busy roadway in Chelmsford.
According to WCVB 5, the accident occurred at 3:30 p.m. on Billerica Road between Apollo Drive and and Progress Avenue.
Police say the victim was walking in the parking lot of the Atrius Health medical building when a car hit her.
Medics airlifted the woman to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver involved in the crash, since identified as 37-year-old Steven Mullen, did not stop to render aid or to speak with police.
Authorities located and arrested Mullen Wednesday evening on multiple charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, speeding, and leaving the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
