Woonsocket Fire Department vehicle hits, injures teen boy

WOONSOCKET, RI – A teen boy sustained injuries Tuesday when a Woonsocket Fire Department vehicle struck him on a residential street, reports 10 WJAR.

The accident happened in the evening on Rathbun Street, which runs north to south from the Rhode Island state line to Social Street.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim entered the path of the vehicle while socializing with friends on Rathbun.

Medics transported the 13-year-old boy to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver involved in the accident stopped to render aid.

A full investigation is underway.
