WEST GREENWICH, RI – A crash along the interstate in central Kent County claimed the lives of two Connecticut women over the weekend, reports WPRI 12 News.
The accident occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday along I-95 North at Exit 21 in West Greenwich, about 10 miles southwest of Rhode Island TF Green International Airport.
Police say that the driver of a vehicle carrying five passengers lost control of the car, left the interstate, and crashed into a tree.
Two passengers sustained fatal injuries. Authorities identified the 19-year-old victims as Ayanna Voyak of Hartford and Aisha Jules of New London.
Medics transported the remaining four occupants of the vehicle to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
Officials say that wet roads may have been a factor in the crash.
A full investigation is underway.
