Injuries reported in pedestrian crash on Rte 44 in Rehoboth

REHOBOTH, MA – A 53-year-old man sustained injuries Monday when a vehicle struck him along a major roadway in west-central Bristol County, reports 10 WJAR.

The accident occurred along Route 44, or Winthrop Street, between Wilmarth Bridge Road and River Street in Rehoboth. This is just 12 miles northeast of Providence, Rhode Island.

Police say the victim was crossing Route 44 when a vehicle hit him. It’s unclear if he was walking in a designated crosswalk when the crash happened.

Medics transported the victim to an area hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to survive.

The driver involved in the accident stopped to render aid and to speak with authorities.

No charges have been announced so far.

A full investigation is underway.
