School bus hits, fatally injures pedestrian near I-10, Union

PROVIDENCE, RI – An accident involving a school bus fatally injured a 38-year-old man on Thursday in Providence, reports NBC 10 Boston.

Just prior to 6 a.m., emergency crews responded to an auto-pedestrian crash along the on-ramp to I-10 northbound at Union Avenue, which is just west of Conlan Junior Memorial Park.

The pedestrian was allegedly walking in a designated crosswalk when the bus hit him. Officials have confirmed that the bus was not carrying students at the time of the crash.

The victim died after transport to an area hospital. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name to the public.

It’s unclear if the driver will face charges in connection to the wreck.
