CRANSTON, RI – A Providence police officer was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital after he was hit by a car while helping with a funeral procession Friday.
This collision took place at the intersection of Cranston and Seneca Street, WJAR News Channel 10 reports. Authorities said a driver was responsible for cutting off the officer, which led to the crash. Officials cited the other motorist for several traffic violations. That driver appears to have been uninjured while the police officer is recovering from a leg laceration and broken bones.
Cranston Police started an investigation and have not released other details.
