SMITHFIELD, RI – Two people were rushed to a hospital, where one is listed in critical condition, following a fiery collision on I-295 South Friday.
The events unfolded around 2 p.m. near Route 7 North when a spark struck a fuel line which then made contact with one of the cars, leading two to catch fire, according to Turnto10.
First responders said the four other occupants were treated at the scene for unspecified wounds.
Rhode Island Department of Transportation crews shut down the area immediately after the crash and lifted all lane closures after 3:30 p.m.
